About the project

Build with parts.
Think in connected systems.

BCSystem is our work on a modular building system: an approach to structures as elements that can be organised into a larger whole.

The project is concerned with the relationship between a part and an assembly. A building element has its own role, but it also belongs to a structure. Bringing those scales together is the direction we are exploring.

More than a collection of unrelated objects

Modular building becomes useful when individual pieces can contribute to a coherent result. BCSystem explores that idea as a development tool, with attention to how separate elements participate in larger compositions.

The intention is to support work in which construction has a meaningful structure of its own. Detailed public demonstrations will provide a clearer view of those possibilities as the project develops.

Alongside UCSystem

Our announced direction includes integration with UCSystem and a separate BCSystem release. Customization and construction are related parts of our tool development, while each tool has its own purpose.

That is a development direction rather than a published compatibility promise. Final public requirements and the feature set of a release will be described with its official materials.

Following the tool

BCSystem is in development. This page brings together its public introduction and related news; studio updates will carry demonstrations and availability information as they are ready.

What defines the project

Modular construction

A project direction focused on building structures from connected parts.

Relationships between elements

Work on how separate building elements can participate in a coherent larger system.

Connection with UCSystem

Integration with our customization tool is part of the announced development direction.

A separate release is planned

BCSystem is also intended to be released as its own tool. Public release details remain to be announced.

A closer look

A structure begins with its elements

BCSystem explores building through modular parts. Each element can be considered on its own and as a contributor to a larger structure.

This direction is concerned with making construction coherent: how separate pieces belong together and how a collection of elements becomes an assembly. Public demonstrations will show the developing workflow as the project progresses.

Think about the whole as well as the part

A modular building system needs relationships between elements, not just a catalogue of objects. BCSystem focuses on those connections as part of its construction direction.

The focus is the structure that emerges from those connections: separate pieces contributing to a larger whole. BCSystem is being developed for modular construction, while UCSystem addresses customization and variations of objects.

A tool with its own release direction

A separate BCSystem release and integration with UCSystem are part of the announced direction. The tools address construction and customization while keeping distinct purposes.

Compatibility, requirements and the precise feature set of a public release will be described in its official materials. Follow the studio for demonstrations and confirmed availability as the project develops.
